“On Monday night (July 29), a video of Toby Keith’s final vocal session was unveiled during the taping of NBC’s tribute to the legendary singer.

Keith’s last vocal recording was a heartfelt cover of Joe Diffie’s ‘Ships That Don’t Come In,’ featured on Hardy’s Hixtape. This unique collaboration brought together the voices of two late country icons, thanks to some creative studio magic, with additional vocals by Luke Combs.

During the taping of Toby Keith: American Icon, Hardy shared that footage existed of Keith in the studio on that memorable day. Producers combined this video with Keith’s vocals, while the house band performed ‘Ships That Don’t Come In’ live for the audience at Bridgestone Arena.

All of this will be aired during the NBC telecast on August 28.

Toby Keith’s final live concert took place in December 2023 in Las Vegas, where he delivered three sold-out shows, exuding energy as he headed into the holiday season. In an interview with Taste of Country just weeks prior, Keith expressed his enthusiasm for touring in 2024 and beyond.

His final performance included hits like ‘I Wanna Talk About Me,’ ‘Beer for My Horses,’ ‘Who’s Your Daddy?,’ ‘Red Solo Cup,’ and ‘Should’ve Been a Cowboy.’ These songs will also be featured in the NBC tribute concert, performed by over two dozen country music stars and emerging artists.”
